The Playmaker Sports Summer Championship brought the heat — both on and off the field — as over 90 teams from across Southern California gathered at Arroyo Vista Park in Moorpark for an unforgettable weekend

of soccer. Competitive teams came together to compete in 19 divisions, playing more than 150 games across two days. The park was alive with the sights and sounds of competition — cheers from the sidelines, the whistle of referees, the smell of sizzling burgers and hot dogs drifting through the air, and the buzz of excited players getting ready to take the field.
Families and fans enjoyed a lively tournament atmosphere that went far beyond the games themselves. Smiley Hot Dogs served up grilled favorites, Tiki Ice offered refreshing shaved ice to help beat the summer heat, and other local food trucks provided everything from burgers and burritos to fries, and drinks. We also had plenty of soccer gear, including grip socks and custom Playmaker Sports apparel from Soccer City. Picture Pro Photography was there to capture professional team shots, ensuring that families left with lasting memories. The unveiling of the new Playmaker Sports Summer Championship trophy, our new custom backdrop for pictures, along with our signature medals made the winners’ celebrations even more special.

Championship Sunday delivered an extra thrill when two-time MLS Cup Champion Bryan Jordan, formerly of the LA Galaxy, joined us to hand out medals, sign autographs, take photos, and share words of encouragement with the players. His presence inspired many young athletes, giving them a glimpse of what it takes to play at the highest level.
Behind the scenes, it took a full team effort to bring the weekend to life. The dedicated referee crews worked tirelessly to keep the matches running smoothly, while the Playmaker Sports staff ensured every detail — from field setup to scheduling — was handled with care. The City of Moorpark and Arroyo Vista Park staff played a key role in keeping the venue in top shape, and our vendors, sponsors, and partners helped elevate the event for players and fans alike.
Tournament Director Kian Kohan summed up the weekend perfectly: “We’re proud to host our 4th Playmaker Sports event and to welcome so many familiar and new teams. The energy the kids and families bring to each tournament gets us excited every time, and we can’t wait to be back here in Moorpark for the Playmakers Cup in November.”
The hot weather didn’t slow the action, though it did call for adjustments. All matches between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. included an extra minute in each half for built-in water breaks, ensuring that players stayed safe and hydrated without losing valuable game time. Certified athletic trainers and information tents were stationed throughout the park to ensure player safety and provide clear communication for guests. Each tent was equipped with first-aid kits and ice packets in case of player injuries.
With the success of the Summer Championship, excitement is already building for the Playmakers Cup over Thanksgiving Weekend on November 29-30, which promises even more teams, thrilling games, bigger prizes, and special guests. Until then, we thank every player, parent, coach, referee, staff member, and supporter who made this year’s Summer Championship an event to remember — and we can’t wait to see the soccer community return to Moorpark in November.
