This past weekend, the Playmakers Cup brought the soccer community together for an incredible event filled with excitement, and competition. Hosted at Arroyo Vista Park in Moorpark, CA, the tournament featured 116 teams and an impressive 195 games played over two days. Teams from boys' and girls' divisions, spanning birth years 2008 to 2018, competed in 21 groups, with 21 champions crowned by Sunday evening.
Saturday’s weather was a true test of resilience, as steady rain fell throughout most of the day. Despite the conditions, players gave it their all, showcasing passion and determination on the field. By Sunday, the rain had cleared, making way for an epic finale. A special highlight of the day was the appearance of LA Galaxy and Salvadoran soccer legend Mauricio Cienfuegos. The 7x time MLS All Star and El Salvador National Team captain joined us to present trophies and medals to the champions and finalists, as well as signing autographs and taking photos with the young athletes and older fans.
Off the field, the Playmakers Cup offered more than just soccer—it created a lively atmosphere for families and teams to enjoy. Vendors like Angel City FC, Soccer City Clothing, Grip Socks, and Gameday Braids provided unique products and services to attendees. Players had the chance to get custom braids, shop for soccer gear, and interact with soccer organizations, making the event even more memorable. As for food, the variety was unmatched—breakfast burritos, pizza, burgers, fries, funnel cakes, hot chocolate, and more kept everyone fueled throughout the weekend. There was also a camera person on site capturing the action through photos and videos, which will be featured on Playmaker Sports' social media channels in the coming days and months.
Ensuring the safety and comfort of all participants was a top priority. Certified athletic trainers were on-site, stationed across the venue, to provide immediate care if needed. Information booths staffed by our team were also available to assist with questions regarding fields or the event to keep things running smoothly.
We are excited to announce our next event on the calendar - Winter Fest. This will be held at Central Park in Santa Clarita on **March 1st and 2nd, 2025**. We’re looking forward to more competition, excitement, and memories created on the field! Registration is now open!
